LEAP Earns Distinction as an Age-Friendly Business in Washington, D.C.

After nomination for the distinction last year, LEAP LLC is officially recognized as an Age-Friendly Business in the District of Columbia, a distinction the company holds in high regard.

WASHINGTONMay 19, 2016 — In its ongoing efforts to fully serve the citizens of the greater D.C. metropolitan region, Lawrence Executive Alliance of Professionals (LEAP), LLC, has earned another important distinction. On May 19th, the company was officially recognized by the Age-Friendly Business Initiative as one of Washington D.C.’s businesses dedicated to serving the aging and elderly members of its community.

In October of 2012, Washington D.C. set out on its mission to join the AARP Network of Age Friendly Communities via the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Global Network of Age Friendly Cities and Communities. To lead the way on this mission, the organization known as Age-Friendly DC was created. Since the organization was established and the initiative was launched, a thorough strategic plan has been developed and is currently being implemented to ensure that the city of Washington, D.C. is a place that is fully accessible and enjoyable as a place to live, work, play, and retire for people of all ages, but especially adults ages 50 and over.

Part of the focus of D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser’s administration, the Age-Friendly Business Initiative works to identify and highlight businesses in the community that strive to include, provide, and enhance products and services that will benefit D.C.’s aging population. Mayor Bowser told citizens of D.C. in May of 2015, “Age-Friendly DC has caught the attention of thousands of District residents in all eight wards. The strategies in this plan reflect the hopes and wishes that you have shared with me. They are strategies that are not only beneficial for our older residents, but for us all – and they are absolutely achievable.”

As it releases the names of those businesses that were inducted into this year’s class, the Age-Friendly Business Initiative is garnering the support of various stakeholders, as the initiative continues to grow. When asked to speak about the distinction for LEAP, LLC, Dr. Clayton Lawrence stated, “LEAP has always been a company that is committed to serving all of D.C.’s citizens. We are so fortunate to be a part of a community that allows us to mentor, lead, and support its youth, but one that also gives us an opportunity to be engaged with the citizens of our older generations who have been the backbone of our community for so long. This distinction only makes official what we have already known to be a prominent part of our mission and vision, and that is that LEAP is here to be a dedicated partner to the vibrant members of our great city, and that we will stop at nothing to meet their needs in the very best ways possible.”

Verizon, a 2014-designated Age-Friendly Business, sponsored the recognition breakfast for all of the newly designated businesses on Thursday, May 19, from 9:00 am – 10:00 am at the DC Economic Partnership, 1495 F St. NW, Washington, DC 20004. nike air max damen nike air max damen nike air max damen
